The apps will provide on-time delivery on all the above.
ESPN looks to have taken this step following the massive response they received on launching location based Websites. The location based Websites in Chicago, Dallas, Boston and Los Angeles attracted traffic of almost 3.5 million sports fanatics every month in 2010.
As a bonus, ESPN also introduced the ESPN Passport app, which can be downloaded absolutely free. The application is focused on next monthâs 2010 FIFA World Cup soccer to be held in South Africa. This app will let followers document all the matches they would be present at. They will be able to upload Mobile photos to Social Networking Sites and check-in at Stadiums using GPS local verification.
This would however include mandatory national headlines, real-time scoreboards and all other such valuable information of significance. The features in the app would include:
* Top local and national news stories;
* GPS-activated local weather updates;
* Blog posts and tweets from each of the local contributors to the sites;
* Interactive scoreboard;
* Access to local SportsCenter video and audio clips;
* Stadium guides for all local professional sports teams;
* Schedules;
* Text direct to ESPN Radio stations in Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles and New York.
